Casa Biagio

Casa Biagio, a charming holiday home, is located in Scicli, one of the baroque towns in Sicily’s Val di Noto. The house lies in a side valley of the old part of town, just a five minutes’ walk away from the city centre.

Soberly, but stylishly furnished, the house is let directly by its owners. It is equipped with all modern conveniences, thereby creating the perfect setting for a pleasant stay. With its relaxed atmosphere, it offers the visitor an extraordinary experience, not least due to its being embedded in surprisingly lovely surroundings: pristine nature and the town of Scicli with its rich heritage of baroque architecture.

Architecture

Located in a historic quarter of Scicli, the house was discovered in 2017 by architect and interior designer Nicoletta Zarattini and carefully restored. Traditional, natural materials from the region were used, in order to preserve the extraordinary spirit of this historic building and to wholly reintegrate it in the architectural ensemble of Scicli’s old town.

Scicli

Located in the southeast of Sicily, the town of Scicli with its 25.000 inhabitants is one of the Late Baroque Towns of the Val di Noto which have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2002. Visitors will find a relaxed and authentic atmosphere in this town not far from the southern coast of Sicily. Especially the old part of town is enchanting, with its pedestrian zone right in the centre and lots of excellent bars, cafés and restaurants. Furthermore, the old town is surrounded by towering rocks that contribute to the outstanding character of this place.

The sea

A vacation in Sicily would not be complete without going to the beach. Casa Biagio is located about 10 kilometres away from the coast. Quiet country roads, leading through picturesque landscapes, take the visitor to small coastal villages like Sampieri, Cava d’Aliga or Punta Secca. There one finds smaller or larger, well-maintained sandy beaches with crystal clear water.

Day trips

The Val di Noto offers a broad range of places that display a baroque townscape and are worth visiting, like Modica, Ragusa or Noto, all perfect for a day trip. For an experience of pure nature, one might head east and visit the beautiful natural reserve of Vendicari, situated on the south-eastern coast of Sicily.
